Review: Nad’s Facial Hair Removal

About 5 years ago it became apparent to myself that I needed to start waxing my upper lip and eventually my chin hair. I had already visited a salon to have my eyebrows waxed about every 6-8 weeks. So, I figured I could save myself some money and try remove the hair at home with wax strips. I had watched the commercial for the Nad's "sugaring" system. I went out to the drugstore and picked up a box that was specifically for facial hair.

nads The Kit came with:

  • 1 tube of Nad's hair removing gel
  • 1 wand
  • 4 preparation cleansing wipes
  • 10 linen cloths
  • an instruction manual

I was eager to start stripping my hair away. I applied the Nad's hair removal "sugar" to my upper lip, placed the linen cloth over it and pressed down on it firmly to smooth it so it would pick up the gel properly. As I removed the linen strip I initially felt some pain. Then I noticed that it only removed about 80% of the hair. So I reapplied the "sugar" and grabbed a fresh linen strip and discovered that the strip was not sticking to the Nad's as well as the first strip had. This made it difficult to remove anymore of the strays. It seems that as soon as the Nad's formula hits body temperature, it loses it's ability to remove hair effectively. I used it for about 3-4 more uses after that since I had already spent the money on it but it just ended up taking me twice as long to remove facial hair since I would have to go back over with tweezers to get all the leftovers.

This did not work well for me. First of all…if it is too hot in your house the sugar wax gets melty and if it is too cold it gets really hard. If it is not the right consistency it won’t work well. I applied it and about half of the hair came off. If you try to do it again it just doesn’t work. I am no expert but I have waxed myself before with much success. This product didn’t work on the fine hairs that were on my face. I have tried it about a dozen different times all with a terrible outcome. All I was left with was an hour of tweezing all the hundreds of fine hairs on my brow and lip. It may work for some but it did not for me. Painless yes…but that is because it doesn’t even rip out any hairs!!

    Hi Karen,

yea, I still prefer using the Satin Smooth waxing kit the best. I’m so used to waxing with it now that I never come out with red or irritated skin and it doesn’t hurt. Nad’s cannot compete with hot wax.
